  All vehicles must go through a pre-export inspection by a KEBS-approved agent (which we manage with QISJ). This produces the KEBS Certificate of Roadworthiness required for customs clearance at Mombasa — no inspection will mean no customs clearance is possible. Rest assured this is something we will handle for you.
• HOW ARE THE VEHICLES SHIPPED TO MOMBASA PORT ? 
  We ship our cars to Kenya using insured 20ft container for a single vehicle or 40ft container if there are more. RORO shipping is available on request in certain situations but container is the more usual method. Sailing transit time from the UK to Mombasa is around 30 days. 
• IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR IMPORTING A VEHICLE INTO KENYA ? 
  Yes, Kenya enforces a strict 8-year age limit, measured from the year of first registration. From 1 January 2026, this means only vehicles first registered in 2019 or later can be imported. Vehicles older than the limit are not accepted and would be impounded or re-exported at Mombasa, so we only source vehicles that fall within Kenya's 8-year window.
• WHAT TAXES ARE DUE WHEN THE VEHICLE LANDS IN KENYA ? 
  Import taxes are assessed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). Importantly, KRA does not tax your purchase price — it values the vehicle using its Current Retail Selling Price (CRSP) database, adjusted for the car's age. On that value you pay import duty, excise duty (which varies with engine size — electric vehicles are charged at a lower rate), VAT at 16%, plus an Import Declaration Fee and a Railway Development Levy. Because the CRSP value and rates depend on your specific vehicle and can change, we give you a full, itemised landed-cost quote up front and confirm the current KRA position, so you know the total before you commit — no surprises on arrival.
• ARE WE ABLE TO PROVIDE LOCAL ASSISTANCE WHEN THE VEHICLE ARRIVES IN MOMBASA ?
